The discount coupons for Fat Tuesday’s were not yet available, but Susan coordinated with a manager at Fat Tuesday’s and provided media school me with media school an email that allowed us to partake of the 25 percent discount on food and beverages on the Thursday and Friday that we were there. The email (and discount) was honored both days without question. We went to Fat Tuesday’s in part because our hotel had no beach, and we wanted to spend some time on the beach, in the water, and have accomodations, shade and refreshments nearby. When we arrived, Carlos, our waiter, greeted us and took us to their outdoor area near the water and parked us at a table under a new palapa. We immediately shed our shoes and put our toes in the sand. The first day there, we watched the workers putting the thatch on two more palapas within feet of us. Carlos was very attentive and when I was ready for another beer, I simply held the empty high for several seconds while never taking my eyes off the beach.
