Two thirds of her residents have students yet to return, and many never will.  For over 1,300 of them, returning is not an option.  They lost their lives to the storm.  In communities to the east of New Orleans, the damage is equally incalculable.  Entire neighborhoods, swept from the map as if by students a giant hand.  A mile or more of homes, rolled up against the treeline, for students hundreds of miles of Gulf Coast.  Unbelieveable.  The country would like to move on, just as they eventually did from the terrorist attacks four and a half years ago, and in some ways I suppose that's as it should be.  But to the people in close---there is a visceral wound that has not healed, and maybe never will.
