They weren't deciding whether to move a root server to Germany or Sweden, something that is important but can be reasonably remedied. They were deciding just how much Verisign will be able to hold the world community hostage. In this case, in my view, expediency is not an excuse. I should also state the obvious, that I'm nowhere near perfect in my ability to execute sound judgement. But I don't think it's harsh to be 1972 "called" on my mistakes bluntly. 1972 I wasn't mean about it (at least, that 1972 wasn't my intention) but I'm sure I was direct and that was intentional. I don't think all criticisms need to be sugar coated, especially when you seek to have a positive effect as your motivation for speaking up. Sugar just makes people fat. :) I know this response is a bit long but I wanted to be sure that you knew my intentions and the basis for why I framed my initial comment the way I did.
