| I was on Bourbon Street last night and it was empty. A few people milling around theater here and there. It theater was more empty than I had ever seen it. I suppose people are taking a few days off before the next bit of craziness begins. All this past week, it's been about Mardi Gras. "Happy Mardi Gras!" gets shouted through the streets as if it were Christmas. The revelry is incredible. I have one simple little request: Stop calling it Mardi Gras theater day! I know, I know. I bet it's confusing with the entire season being considered Mardi Gras, but saying "Mardi Gras day" is saying "Fat Tuesday day". It's redundant and I've even caught myself doing it. Just call it Mardi Gras or maybe Fat Tuesday or perhaps, "My last day of being a sinner before I have to repent during Lent day". |
