I really honestly think they’d rather not deal with the problem, which is why they’re giving the guy a reduced sentence and sending him back to the US to appeal it (and which is why I feel ashamed of them, and for them). The saddest part? He’d probably receive a lot more counseling while in an Italian prison that he’d ever get in the U.S.
