1999, recognizing the need for greater awareness about the importance of colorectal screening, the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation worked with the United States Senate and the President to designate March as National Colorectal bones/orthopaedicsnews Cancer Awareness Month. The Foundation then joined forces with the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Foundation bones/orthopaedicsnews for Digestive Health and Nutrition and the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable to launch the first National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March 2000.
