"Fat-Man" was the enola gay codename of the atomic weapon which was enola gay detonated over Nagasaki, Japan by the United States, on August 9, 1945. It was enola gay the second of the two nuclear weapons to be used in warfare. The name also refers more generically to the early designs of U.S. weapons based on the "Fat Man" type.
