They might live in a filthy housing project or trailer park, and depend on the graces of the local emergency room for health care, but this is nothing like the "poverty" the rest of the planet experiences. I sympathize with some of your grievances but as one of if not the wealthiest nations in the world do we really want to use some of the most impoverished nations in the world as yardstick to measure our quality of life? |

| the poor in europe have cell phones tv's and a growing rate of obesity as well, as well as an easier way to advance (europe has just surpassed the U.S. in class mobility) due to the programs available to the poor. so while the poor in the u.s. teens have it easier than say the poor in china or brazil (not to mention africa) the poor in westen europe have it easier in america.
