I grew up up during the tail end of their career, and they represented a very foreign world, the world of Atlantic Starr and Budweiser Superfest at RFK, soul brothers with cowboy tassles and music reviews tight slacks. I thanked God everyday for keeping me safely away from this world. Maybe its nostaliga, but these days I find something very sweet about the Shalamar pop sound. Also, Shalamar was important to me after the tragedies of 9/11. Sure, we all listened to them during those hard first weeks for comfort and guidance. But it was Shalamar that later inspried me to submit my design for the Ground Zero Redevelopment. |
