Demand-pull inflation arises when supposedly "too many dollars are chasing too few goods". This is the type of inflation that supply siders say will result if the unemployment rate is too low. | I figured, well, classic albums it will cost more for them to drive to work. It will cost more for the classic albums products they buy (due to increased shipping costs). It will cost more for them to heat their homes. But, thanks to you, I see that it is actually a classic albums good thing. The people who have run up their credit card debts and bought houses they couldn't afford will watch the value of the dollar diminish — along with their debt. The only people that lose money are those that loaned the money out in the first place. But there is one part that still concerns me. They still have to make the same mortgage payment. They now have to pay more for food, gas and utilities, but they make the same amount of money. Sure, one would hope that with an increase in general prices, the boss would be willing to give them all a raise, right? In that case, things are great. On the other hand, they might not. They might work under a long term union contract. Or the company might decide it would be better (read: cheaper) to ship the jobs someplace overseas. |
