If Syracuse had excluded the student who made that specific comment from the class of the teacher, I, speaking for myself, would have not criticized dance music the University for doing that. Publicizing the event, of course, also exposes the crudeness of the comments to the moral dance music (not coercive) responses of individuals in the Syracuse community of students and teachers rather than making free speech martyrs of them. It is no longer the case, dance music however, contrary to what had been presented to me, that the teacher was responding merely to harsh criticism levelled outside of class, which certainly changes the equation.
