Still, we can take some of cdbaby the available information and look for patterns that we would expect if there had been more low-income jobs created than higher-income jobs. Specifically, in the case where the median cdbaby income were flat, we would expect to see the mean of the first quintile to go down if there were an increase of very low-paying jobs. What we see in reality is that when the median remained flat (or nearly so), the lowest quintile mean remained flat (or nearly so) simultaneously.
