There have been discussions in dave mirra the Forums, on Slashdot, and a few thousand other places about a UW-Madison study suggesting that fat might be a virus. As BFBers Cat and Bill pointed out though, one of the study's coauthors - Richard L. Atkinson (referenced in this version dave mirra of the story) also juuust happens to own a company called Obetech, dave mirra LLC. And, gee, Obetech happens to offer a test kit to see if you've got the obesity antibody - only $450! Atkinson is also President of the American Obesity Association. |

| There's a bit more epitaph in the latter article about how this could create a real class divide, arguing that poorer people are fatter and thus would have a hard time accessing care. Some are arguing that this situation is coming about due to a lack of epitaph funds for the NHS. In any case, it's good that it's being seen as a bad move. He takes apart the surveys, lays out the connections, and concludes that Cancer Research UK and Weight Concern are doing far more harm to fat people than good. |
