They might live in a filthy housing project or trailer park, and depend on the graces of the local emergency room for health care, but this is nothing like the "poverty" the rest of the planet experiences. Inexpensive foods (bread, pasta, potatoes, etc) are all starchy, nutritionally void and fattening, even when cooked at home.
