Parade is that syndicated weekend magazine for old songs people. They put people like Edward James Olmos on songs the cover, and they are chockas with ads for the porcelain crap-knackery and orhtotics. There was that one time they broke stride and ran that photoessay featuring a shirtless Maury Chaykin. Or maybe I just dreamt that. Anyway, Will Smith is the kind of Black Man Parade endorses. Will Smith gets his street slang a little on the belated side, like, sometime after Tim songs Allen is through with it.Hes on Sundays cover, announcing that he struggles with self-doubt. Check it out.Anyway, Wills a hack, but "Miami" has always brought me great pleasure. Witness the self-doubtfully lean Huey Lewis shouting out. Shouting out cities, shouting out entire races. Aye, Robot. Aye...If "Maimi" is infectious, "And The Beat Goes On" is disco herpes. The Whispers have been around for ever. This was their first and prob biggest hit, written in 1980 with Leon Sylvers.Check out a good Whispers bio here. And
