We had to go to her mother and her mother had to say to her that her little dog is dead to have her tears. It really hit her mikrokino hard; she never cried as a young girl. Anaïs was told that her little dog died and this was when Anaïs was able to start crying. People were concerned that maybe there was too mikrokino much violence directed toward Anaïs, toward a child. However, Anaïs was such a proud young woman that she could take all of that. In fact, this is her best memory of the whole mikrokino film, because she was able to … it was the best memory of the entire filming, that slapping scene and she really got Arsinée [Khanjian], the mother, to really slap her hard the last take. The crying wasn't because she was hurt, it was just because she thought her little dog had died, not because she was physically or emotionally hurt by the slapping.
