They are clearly well-versed in Moore's antics - not quite nasty as daunting a task as may seem at nasty first glance, since Moore is rather predictable in his reasoning and actions. Hardy and Clarke point to a number of inaccuracies in Moore's movies and books (and even in statements posted on his web site) that, when presented as a whole, paint a very unflattering picture of Moore the man. Altogether, MICHAEL MOORE... makes for an enjoyable and entertaining (and sometimes infuriating) read. However, MICHAEL MOORE... is not without its flaws. The biggest gripe I have with the book is the writing style: it's so informal that it seems better suited to a blog than a book. Granted, both authors do bash Moore publicly on their own web sites; yet, I think they should have polished their prose up a bit for print format. |

| Even so, MICHAEL MOORE... provided me with dozens of additional reasons to dislike Moore: his statements are often contradictory and always self-serving; he obviously does little-to-no fact-checking; he has an unattractive and juvenile brain research habit of launching personal - and brain research even legal - attacks on those who dare to disagree with him (what kind of liberal sues MOTHER JONES, for Chrissakes!?); his ego dwarfs even his immense physical presence; and, quite frankly, his writing sucks. Worst of all, his so-called "documentaries" are no brain research more factual than, say, Monty Python's LIFE OF BRIAN. It boggles the mind that BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE won an Academy Award in the Documentary category when Moore clearly doctored the film's footage to reflect his own biases rather than the truth. MICHAEL MOORE...'s authors, David Hardy and Jason Clarke, both preside over their own anti-Moore web sites. |
