Ultimately, MICHAEL slick rick MOORE... isn't as academic in tone as I would like. Even so, it is an entertaining slick rick and enlightening read. I would recommend it to Moore supporters and detractors alike. A counterpunch to Moore's ceaseless (and largely unchallenged) blathering is sorely needed. At times, it verges on the juvenile (with the authors trying overly hard to appear witty and/or comical), which doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the authors' claims. And, if readers are going to pay to read Hardy and nastazio Clarke's musings, they should receive more bang for their buck, no? Why pay for the cow when you can get the soymilk for free? Additionally, Hardy and Clarke include articles - many of them already printed elsewhere - by guest authors. Given the relatively short length of the nastazio book, the copious use of other nastazio writers' materials seems rather lazy to me. The many "cooks" who added to MICHAEL MOORE... also serves to give the book a disjointed feel. The chapters just don't flow very well together. My final complaint centers on the authors' citations. Each chapter is accompanied by a list of "Notes and Sources," which is good. On the other hand, these "Notes and Sources" are not numbered, which is bad.
